About Coffee Brewing in Vietnam:

  • The mountainous district of Huong Hoa, Quang Tri province, is one of 3 key areas of Arabica coffee cultivation in Vietnam. 
  • The whole district has 5,200 hectares of coffee plantation with the output of 40,000 tons of green beans per year. The coffee in Huong Hoa is high quality Arabica Catimor grown on hills of basalt red soil at an altitude of about 600 meters above the sea level. 
  • It has a cool climate with the rainfall evenly distributed throughout the year, which is very suitable for this kind of coffee. Arabica Catimor in Huong Hoa is processed with the method of wet processing and sun-drying after fermentation and mucilage removal.

Production Process:

  • Production organised in farmer groups of 3-5 households
  • Training on sustainable COFFEE FARMING techniques
  • Cultivation: apply organic fertilizer and do not pesticides 30 days before harvest
  • Pick cherries with the ripeness of at least 95%
  • Apply wet fermentation to ensure the best quality and taste
  • Sun-dry after fermentation and mucilage removal
  • Select quality beans by a combination of machine and hand-sorting
  • Pack manually with two layers of bags and store for less than 30 days to minimize oxidation and flavor variation
